So here begins my portfolio for 2006. I was nervous about this one...But I think it came out nicely. I didn't want to do the typical "black box", so I made mine look like an oversized tray of beef.
The tray itself is a cookie sheet spray-painted white (with a bit of texture, to feel like stryofoam). The boards are blood-red and cut to fit the tray. The top-most tray has a picture of the beef. On top of all that, I was going to cover it with saran wrap, but that prooved too difficult (It wasn't easily resealable, most saran wrap isn't big enough, and it didn't provide any protection). I went down to Canal St. and got a sheet of thin plastic- I then used a hair dryer to mold it to my tray. The whole thing is topped off by a fake supermarket price sticker.
Your meat package is the best idea EVAR! For a time after Katrina I used an M.R.E. package design to mail or deliver my portfolio. I live in New Orleans, so I was surrounded by the things after the storm; figured maybe they could put me back to work.
