This was a part of my Sophomore Portfolio at SVA. All the work in my gallery here that's mounted on these digital "illustration boards" were in the portfolio.
I spent an entire night taking hundreds of photos on multiple rolls of film (using my trusty old Pentax K10000) as I traveled through the subways of NY. If I remember correctly:
1) Took the 6 from 23rd to Brooklyn Bridge (Took pix)
2) Took the 6 from Brooklyn Bridge to Grand Central (Took Pix)
3) Took the S to Times Square (Took Pix)
4) Took the 3 to 72nd (Took Pix)
5) Left the system, walked down to Lincoln Center stop
6) Took a lot of pix in Lincoln Center
7) Took the 1 from Lincoln Center to 23rd st (took pix)
I wish I could have done more, and I'd love to do it again, but as it was, I spent 1am-4am in the system. There are so many more places I'd like to visit, but not right now.
The result of this trip is the "Underground alphabet you see above (A-Z). It was originally an accordion fold book, and while it's REALLY cool like that, there's no way to photograph it so that you can so it.
I wish there was a way to show the Underground Alphabet in book form to you guys, but I'm just NOT in the mood to take this to the photo studio
